UC Davis Centennial Blend Olive Oil
The UC Davis Olive Center announces the release of this year’s Centennial Blend of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. 2009 marks the second year in which the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science’s award winning olive oil program is offering for sale this special blend. The Centennial blend proudly commemorates the 100-year partnership between UC Davis and California’s olive growers and processors. This extra virgin olive oil is a blend of UC Davis olive oil with super-premium olive oil donated by:
California Olive Ranch, Glenn & Butte Counties
Corto Olive, San Joaquin County
Pasolivo, San Luis Obispo County
Saltonstall, Sonoma County
Copper Hill, Yolo County
Lucero, Tehama County
Katz, Solano, County
Sciabica’s, Stanislaus County
The Olive Oil Source, Santa Barbara County
This year’s blend combines Spanish, Greek and Italian varietals from UC Davis trees and California olive producers. This well balanced blend contains a bouquet of green apple with aromatic grassy flavors and a hint of banana and ripe olives.
Proceeds from sales of the UC Davis Centennial Blend benefit the UC Davis Olive Center, and thus aid in future research and education, enhancing the growth of the California olive industry.
